Who is Luuk van der Laan

Since January 2006 I am running my own law firm. Initially from Amersfoort and currently from my office in Sønderborg, Denmark.

In February 1998 I joined the Philips legal Department and worked for various product divisions over a period of 8 years. During these years I supported Philips’ activities in its global context and got well acquainted with the internal business and decision taking processes.

Furthermore I was highly inspired by my role of legal advisor in setting up and supporting the various alliances and other cooperations between Philips and third parties; for example the alliance with SaraLee on the Senseo coffee machine. This part of my work I have extended to a larger part of my daily work. See also “Alliances”

Since 1991 I was a private practice solicitor during 7 years with more and more focus on company law in the broadest sense.

Prior to law school I studied theoretical physics. I can therefore easily form a picture of the technology that my client’s business is based upon and the related aspects of intellectual property.
